I’m spontaneous. My husband is too. When we decided to get married on a Wednesday and have our ceremony the coming Friday – after being engaged for 12 days – I think our family and friends had a simultaneous “HOLY S#!T” moment.
This moment only lasted a minute.
Our loved ones know us well. They know that getting married without notice is something we would do – and it would be the right thing to do.
An impromptu wedding is not for everyone.
You must be in a specific mind set – and there are a few questions to ask before you go ahead with your big day.
First: Why do you want to get married in a hurry?
Possible answers:
- You are truly, madly, absolutely in love and cannot wait another moment to ring the wedding bells.
- You are pregnant and think that you cannot bring another life into this world without being engulfed in holy matrimony.
- You and your love hail from different countries and you want to continue your courtship in the same zip code.
- You want to lift your middle finger to the society that tells us we need the 12-to-18-month-to-plan wedding, with a million little details to sort and a million unneeded headaches to come.
- You are crazy.
If you answered “yes” to any of the above, you are ready to plan a 72-hour wedding.
D and I made are decision based on answers 1 & 5.
What are your reasons for jumping the… alter?
